Coaching with Renata - 90 days left. What are you going to do?It’s October. There are three months left in the year. 90 days. Give or take a few. It’s one of those moments when we tend to take a look at what we have accomplished so far and plan out (or just think about) what we want to get done by the end of the year.

If you are like most people, you just try to do everything that’s left from your ideas about how this year ‘was supposed’ to look like. And I get it. We feel some kind of pressure to have as many things done as possible. But there’s a way that might make you more productive and focused, and not add to your stress.

Find the time to celebrate!

We all find ourselves busy, working on multiple projects, ideas, responsibilities, dealing with our jobs, family and hobbies. It’s great that we find time to do that, but we sometimes forget to stop and see how much we are doing and how much we accomplish.

This week, find a day, an afternoon or even an hour to celebrate all those successes, wins and achievements. I’d love for you to do that at least once a week, but once every quarter is better than nothing ;) . Have a dance blast, listen to and sing some of your favorite songs, treat yourself to a massage or any other self-care pleasure. Buy something nice, eat something tasty, do anything that will let you acknowledge your awesomeness.

Create a plan.

When we have so much on our plates, I believe it’s important to have at least some structure. I know, not everyone works well with it, but why not give it a go? I used to do things in a very chaotic way, but nowadays I find it extremely helpful to plan things out. At least a bit.

You know how important that is, especially if you own a business or have some time-consuming hobbies on top of your usual routines. If there are things that you want to accomplish by the end of this year, I think it’s the best time to make a list and a general schedule of actions you’d like to do and by when you’d love to have them done.

It doesn’t have to be detailed, but a general outline tends to help with focusing your energy on things that matter to you! (You’d be not surprised how much time we tend to lose when we don’t pay attention to where it’s going.) I don’t know why, but the beginning of autumn is one of those times, that I feel focused and motivated, even more than in January. Try it out and see how it makes you feel and work. You can always throw the plan out if it doesn’t do you any good ;)

Be gentle with yourself.

Yes, I said it! Be gentle! With the end of year approaching fast, we try to catch up on all the things we didn’t do in the previous 9 months, especially in business. And that’s crazy. It sucks you out of energy, leaves you overwhelmed (and who likes that?) and adds to levels of stress you are probably feeling anyway.

So, slow down. Take a look at things you want to do and decide which of those are really important to you or crucial in your business. Don’t try to do them all. The rule ‘one step at a time’ works wonders every time. So organize all your projects and ideas that you wish to complete in terms of importance, prioritize and start with those that have the most value. I know it’s common sense, but when we are working hard, we tend to forget what we already know and give in to some notions that don’t help us stay healthy, focused and make progress.

Then simply start working from the top of the list. You might not get everything done, but if you stick with it, you’ll probably achieve more than you thought possible. And that’s a nice reward in itself, isn’t it?

The most important thing, though… Among all the craziness of holidays, responsibilities, family matters, your career, relationships and the need to move forward and grow…

Don’t forget who you are! And have fun living that truth!
